About Me

Hello and welcome. My name is Maxine DeFank and I am the founder of Blossom Professional Clinical Counselor Services, Inc. I strive to provide client centered care where you feel seen, heard, challenged and respected. I am passionate about meeting you where you are, working collaboratively to lessen emotional distress, and empowering you to enhance your quality of life. I approach therapy with cultural humility and understand that each person’s lived experience within their cultural context varies. No matter what has led you here, you don’t have to go through it alone.

Prior to becoming a counselor, I worked as a victim advocate for survivors of interpersonal violence. My time as an advocate deeply shaped who I am as a therapist and as a person. In my time as a counselor I have worked with people at all levels of care from inpatient hospitalization to outpatient telehealth. I have a strong background in providing therapy for co-occuring disorders, trauma processing, childhood sexual abuse, adult sexual trauma, substance abuse, self-harm, bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and borderline personality disorder (BPD).

The core of our work together is based around client centered care however my overall approach is eclectic, meaning I integrate interventions from other modalities as appropriate. When we work together I will likely integrate concepts from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.
